A French 19th-century miniature bombé commode, shaped with the same sweeping curves and sculpted presence found on full-scale Louis XV provincial furniture. The case is built in walnut with a strong, expressive grain that enhances the bombe profile on both the front and sides. Two shaped drawers follow the undulating façade, fitted with period-style brass handles and escutcheons that sit proudly against the warm, hand-polished surface. The top is molded with a soft serpentine edge, while the front corners are carved with vertical pilasters that visually anchor the form. Cabriole feet and a shaped apron finish the piece with the expected French silhouette. Miniature commodes of this quality were often made as cabinetmaker’s models, apprentice pieces, or decorative salon objects, and they remain highly collectible. This example reads as a true piece of furniture in miniature—ideal for display, for holding small personal items, or as a sculptural accent on a console, writing desk, or étagère. A charming 19th-century French miniature with authentic age and presence. Height: 13.75 in (34.93 cm) Width: 17.5 in (44.45 cm) Depth: 9 in (22.86 cm)
