A handsome 19th century English mahogany partner’s desk, retaining its inset gilt-tooled leather writing surface framed by crossbanding. The top is bordered with decorative tooling and sits above a symmetrical storage arrangement typical of traditional partner’s desks. The desk features a symmetrical working configuration, with drawers accessible from both sides, allowing two users to sit opposite one another. One pedestal is fitted with graduated drawers, while the opposing pedestal includes a cupboard door concealing interior storage. The desk rests on plinth bases and displays the rich tone and grain associated with quality English mahogany. Its proportions make it suitable for both residential study and office use.
